"Dragluon, I'm going to have to borrow you for a while."

Labrys said that evenly to the air-- but in reality she was addressing the terminal she was standing in.

The Dragluon terminal in the mountains of the China region of Earth had stood here for the longest time. Undisturbed by humans, and as a result, running efficiently since the point that the Astrals and the Barians ceased checking in on it's functions-- which focused mainly on the archival records of myth and legend on the world.

Now, such a life is fine... but for the AI running the area, it got to be a bit lonely, so when Labrys spoke, it almost seemed to perk up.

"Borrow, Administrator Tachyon? I am not certain what you mean by such wording."

Of course not. "It means I'm going to have to remove you from the terminal and bring you with."

"You know the terms of the removal, Administrator Tachyon. You must achieve your victory in my view. But I do not detect any others that could be capable of challenging you."

Labrys knew this already, of course. She had won before, but once the Dragluon card was back in it's terminal, it wasn't going to be just easily removed. But... she didn't want others to know the reason why she wanted to remove it. She didn't want them to worry about what was going on. So, she made an offer:

"Are you capable of dueling, Dragluon?"

The system paused in it's response. Dueling? Of course, if she dueled the system itself, and won, it'd prove more than enough that she was worthy of removing it. But it wasn't something that it had tried... though, it's holographic system was, of course, impeccable. And it's knowledge systems were well-versed in the act, especially as it tied to the building of myth. It could... yes, it could theoretically duel.

"Is that what you wish to do, Administrator Tachyon? Duel me?"

"It'd be an honor, if it can match the terms of removal."

The system ran through the request. "Accepted. Please wait one moment." A whirring sound started up as the holographic fuctions came to life, forming the image of an older man in front of Labrys. He looked up, the equivalent duel disk forming on his arm. "Would this suffice as an opponent, Administrator Tachyon?"

She didn't expect the system to create an avatar for the purpose of this duel, but she supposed it would match the terms closer. She gave a small smile to the figure of the older man, bowing slightly as her own disk formed.

"Of course. Thank you for humoring me in this."

Humoring. That's what it was, in the end. She already knew her victory was secured-- she could see it as clear as day. The Dragluon system was very capable, but she would edge out on top.

It was all for the best. They didn't know what was going to come, going to another dimension. The air in Domino was different from the rest of the world-- in other places not touched by the terminals, spirits couldn't hold their visible form without taking on a purely human body. As far as they knew, these other dimensions would not be able to sustain her in a physical shape.

... and in addition, being away from one of the terminals for so long... she still hadn't adjusted to the lack of chaotic energy that surrounded her before. Being near one of the Legendary Numbers, one of the terminals... it helped.

Maybe one day, she'll have the luxury to pull herself away from this dependence. But for now, she couldn't risk it.

She would win. And then use this to guarantee that she'll take down what were now her new enemies.
